It has been a good couple of months of mostly neglect for my roses. Mid July - August was rough on them with Japanese beetles and then I had a baby early September. They have black spot and haven't been fed. But I think this will be the last flush so my final pictures of 2007:

It looks like it could be, but some HTs throw sprays, too.

One guess for a Lafter

Distant Drums is a good guess, but I'm going to say

Kaleidoscope (shrub, Walden 1998)

When I worked for a rose grower it was pretty popular

Another guess for Distant Drums

After posting it on GardenWeb, these are the responses I received:

"doesn't look anything to me like my Distant Drums."

"I have had four Distant Drums for over a decade and only the third picture resembles the bloom; the growth pattern is distinctly not DD, nor is the foliage type consistent with DD. OTOH, it does resemble Kaleidoscope, which I have had since it came out, especially in the fade (really ugly) and the wider than taller growth habit."

"This looks very much like Kaleidoscope."

"doesn't look like my Lafter - the blooms are too purplish and it's a different habit."
